Зазвичай розповіді людей про минуле мають ностальгійний
характер, часто можна почути, що в часи їхньої молодості було
краще. Чим старшою стає людина, тим більше романтизованими
стають спогади.
Можна уявити роботу людей на заводах та фабриках й освітлення,
яке було тоді – десятки чи сотні ламп денного світла. Чи є в
мене сентимент до цих ламп? Мабуть, ні. Бо вони хоч і створювали
світло, але поряд з тим мали нестерпний шум, до того, зазвичай,
це світло було нерівномірним і мерехтливим. Не зважаючи, що
зараз ми маємо більше можливостей, нові технології дозволяють
покращувати умови життя та праці, люди все ж згадують минулий
час, минулу роботу під світлом мерехтливих ламп…
В даному випадку ці лампи є ностальгічним символом некомфортного
радянського буття. Інсталяція дає змогу глядачу потрапити в
замкнуте середовище світла, середовище, в якому тривале
перебування неможливе. Шум, звуковий та світловий дисонанс
створюють дискомфорт, який тисне, гнітить та відштовхує.

"Lamps"
Light installation, 2021
Usually, people’s accounts of the past are nostalgic, and it
is often said that they were better off when they were
young. The older one becomes, the more romantic their
memories of the past become.
You can imagine people working in factories, under the
lighting, which was then consisted of tens or hundreds of
lamps of daylight. Do I have a sentiment towards these
lamps? Perhaps, not. Because even though they created light,
they also made unbearable noise, and their light was often
uneven and flickering. Although today we have more
opportunities, and new technologies make it possible to
improve living and working conditions, people still
nostalgically return to their past, including their past
work under these lights of flickering lamps.
In this case, the lamps are a nostalgic symbol of an
uncomfortable Soviet being. The installation allows the
viewer to enter a closed environment, an environment in
which a prolonged stay is impossible. Noise, sonic, and
light dissonance create discomfort that presses, depresses,
and repels.
